
Many of our children in care have been exposed to domestic violence and as a result experience after effects which may manifest as fear, behavior issues, trust issues or be unique to the child. This course is intended to make foster parents more aware of what the child has experienced, how it has impacted them and continues to impact them and provide the foster parent with strategies to help the child heal.

A Safety Plan is a tool that is used to help reduce the risk of the child/youth and others of being hurt. Safety Plans can be used for Youth who are at risk of self-harm, at risk of being abused or for those children/youth with behavioral problems that may harm others.
